An intense hunger to study the Bible moved two Midlothian couples to place an ad at Dallas Seminary for a student to come to Midlothian to begin a home Bible study. In the fall of 1971 Ed and Coralee Murray responded and one of the studies that eventually generated Midlothian Bible Church was begun. By the summer of 1973 this group desired to become a church. Earlier that spring, the Lord brought Dave and Mary Wyrtzen to Midlothian to begin a second home study. The union of these two groups gave birth to our church on Sunday, July 15, 1973. That day, the Murrays, challenged to minister to the pressing needs of Eastern Europe after their graduation from seminary, were ordained and commissioned to serve Campus Crusade for Christ in Austria. That same Sunday, Dave and Mary were asked to come to Midlothian and Dave became MBC’s pastor-teacher. Thirty-two years later, this combination of world evangelism and a commitment to a practical, personal exposure of God’s truth revealed in Scripture remains. We kneel in awe before our Savior’s power as hundreds have now joined our family of believers. Each of us must consider the challenge: BRING INTIMACY WITTH THE BIBLICAL CHRIST INTO THE THE LIVES OF OTHERS through the proclamation of the Gospel and the building up of one another in faith, hope, and love until the world has been given the opportunity to sing… “I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God.”
